Moanaroa, 1450ha effective, and Ware Ware, 1215ha effective, are now run in tandem, with Dan overseeing operations and a stock manager on each property. Since 2004, son Hugh has been stock manager on Moanaroa.

 

Angus cows are essential on this rugged, coastal land. “If you get a good spring, the growth dries off in summer,” Dan says. “Breeding cows are the best way of controlling that growth.”
